HOW IT CAME TO BE

The Third Space revealed itself in the light of the 2020 Summer Solstice as a response to the overlapping crises in our national consciousness.

WHAT IT DOES

Third Space creates interactive containers that allow participants to feel the way forward, engaging their imaginations with art-forms that address the fractured nature of our times.

We have models scattered throughout eras of societal plague and reinvention during the 20th century: the use of public theatre in the New Deal’s attempt to re-weave our shared social fabric following economic collapse; the deployment of performance art as activism from the Gay Liberation Front and ACT UP; the importance of shared truth-telling and reconciliation in countries healing from the wounds of right-wing regimes; the moral and political leadership of artists when rejecting cultures of oppression.

Our work aims to bring about a New America via deep listening, shared acts of renewal, and true democratic collaboration.
